This simple service is attended by 15-20 each week.
We use in rotation each of the three main rites provided in A New Zealand Prayer Book
He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa - our very own Anglican New Zealand Prayer book.
The priest provides a homily of about ten minutes
length,and one hymn is
sung. After the liturgy we sometimes have coffee - if one of us has prepared for that.
This is the main service of the week. As new families with younger children join in more and more, the energy levels are rising. We have a nice variety of leadership and other skills offered by our members.
The tone is relaxed formal, the style is modern Catholic, and the teaching is conservative radical. The music for the liturgy is a mixture of traditional and modern, notably the mass settings composed by our Organist. Incense is used for the major festivals.
This social time is in the church hall beyond the church. The time may flow on to a meeting,
or training session, or an informal lunch.
The priest is in church for mattins each morning. One or two join him as we set ourselves before God for that day, and offer prayers for the community.
during daylight hours Tuesday to Sunday for people to come in to pray, to sit in the quiet, to read literature provided, or to otherwise find shelter from the storms.
